Our shop is closed for the time being

DURING the COVID 19 pandemic we are sorry that our shop in the main entrance to the hospital (see the item on the right) will be closed.

We will resume normal service as soon as possible.

How our shop helps to support the wards

ONE of the ways that the Leighton Hospital League of Friends raises funds to provide extra funding for the wards is to run a shop in the main entrance to the hospital.

It has been operating since 2014 and succeeded one behind the reception desk closed at the end of February that year.

The original shop moved into temporary accommodation while a new shop was built across the main entrance from its previous location.

While this is not quite as big as our previous shop, we still stock most of the lines we had before. We serve people who are visiting patients, as well as some patients, and members of the hospital staff.

We had previously run a weekly sales stall in Outpatients for more than 20 years, which always proved very popular with patients,  visitors and staff.

Many local residents had produced hand-made goods for the League to sell on this stall as a way of supporting their local hospital.

All profits the League makes go to a fund that enables us to purchase equipment to benefit hospital patients and the staff who support them.

The money raised helps to bring the most advanced method of treatment available into the Foundation Trust, thereby benefiting local people and other patients using the Trustís services.

League's former Chairman dies

WE regret to announce the death of the former Chairman of the League of Friends, Peter Andrews, at the age of 88.

He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Crewe.
